You may remember that a previous blog featured a very special little boy called Ashton King. Ashton is 9 years old and attends Lantern Lane Primary School in Loughborough. Ashton has cerebral palsy and is currently confined to a wheelchair. For several years he had been using a specially adapted go kart provided by Freedom Care. Whilst this had proved to be invaluable, both at home and at school, Ashton’s complex health needs are changing as he grows and the above blog outlined our aim to continue his high quality care by providing him with new equipment including a new lightweight wheelchair, parallel bars for practicing walking, a gym mat for physio, and a set of horse riding equipment. We aimed to raise an initial total of £4000 over 12 months to start meeting these needs for Ashton.

We are delighted to tell you that at the time of writing we have already surpassed our goal! Further details can be found on our fundraising page Freedom 4 Care Ashton. The money raised so far has been used to purchase the wheelchair that Ashton so desperately needed – and has brought a great big smile to his face!

We thought you’d love to see these photos of Ashton’s new wheelchair and see how well he is adapting to it.
