Mental health care has been in the news a lot in recent months, their aim is change public opinion on how we see mental health.  In particular it needs to be perceived just like any other mental health problem.  The government strategy will also look into providing better services for those suffering from mental health.  This week Freedom Care thought we would support this by looking at several factors, what is meant by mental health and how it can affect people.

Mental Health is actually a very vast area, but fundamentally it related to how an individual is feeling in their mind.  Individuals with poor mental health can feel negative about their life, or are unable to cope with problems when they arise.  There are many mental health problems that can affect an individual from living a normal life, at Freedom Care we touch on certain disorders regularly like Aspergers and Autism, but mental health can vary from minor to more serious problems.  Some disorders get better within a short period of time, while others take longer.  Providing the correct treatment and support is provided by both professional and members of the family, sufferers can often live normal lives.

1 out of 4 people will experience mental health problems at some point in their life, it can affect anyone, anywhere.  It not only affects the sufferer but can have detrimental affects on family, friends, carers and the local community.

Services for mental health need to get better and quicker at providing support, help and treatment. By the government educating teachers, employers and families, they can hope to get help to sufferers much faster thus increase the chances of them being able to live a normal life much sooner.

As specialist in dealing with individuals with complex health needs, Freedom Care can offer support in the form of residential care.  For more information on how we can help you, please contact us here.
